I am still interested in hearing your suggestions on third-party software – but optimally the answer to my question should be how to permanently disable mouse acceleration in the Apple native preference files, or similar. LinearMouse or CursorSense which have settings for disabling mouse acceleration – but when trying them, unfortunately because they also handle other mouse-related functions, it seems to tend to interact negatively with other mouse software (making the cursor movements "choppy") and even Universal Control. Find the Related Settings group to the right of the window (or the bottom if your window size is small).

Please note: Preferably, I want to make the setting permanent inside of native MacOS settings, or some "light software" like a script, rather than relying on heavy external software. To turn off the mouse acceleration feature, type Mouse Settings into the Windows Search bar and click Mouse Settings from the search results. However, this setting is not permanent and seems to get lost on reboot or shut down (potentially also at idling, sleep or logout – I have not investigated thoroughly). This way, mouse movement data from mousemove events won't include mouse acceleration when the pointer is locked. addEventListener ( "mousemove", ( event ) => to disable OS-level adjustment for mouse acceleration, and access raw mouse input. However, those are not updated when the pointer moves outside of the web page. The movementX and movementY attributes from the mousemove document events tell you how much the mouse pointer moved since the last move event. This feature is super useful for a wide range of people who dislike mouse acceleration such as many gamers, for whom the ability to disable mouse acceleration.

Specifically, for the same physical distance that you move the mouse, the pointer on screen travels further if the distance was traveled faster. At the main menu open options -> preferences and uncheck mouse smoothing and max smoothing, turn down mouse sensitivity to 3.00, this worked for me. It allows precise movement by moving slowly while also allowing the pointer to cross the entire screen with a quick short motion. Accelerated movement is an ergonomic feature when using a mouse or trackpad to move the pointer on screen.
